Heather was arrested outside Santa Barbara, CA in September of 2008 on suspicion of driving under the influence of prescription drugs. She was later released without having to post bail. After appearing in court in January 2009 Heather was sentenced to three years’ informal probation and received a fine of approximately $900. Heather was also ordered to attend a drivers’ education program. She pleaded no contest to the reduced charge of reckless driving.

In July 2008 it was revealed that Heather had been treated for anxiety and depression at a facility in Arizona.

Heather hosted both the 1996 VH1 Fashion Awards and the 1999 VH1/Vogue Fashion Awards.

In the early 80′s Heather was seriously involved with, as well as briefly engaged to Scott Baio (Happy Days, Charles in Charge). While Heather attended UCLA, her father was the dean of the School of Engineering there.

After Heather joined the cast of Melrose Place, the show’s previously low ratings spiked up substantially, something for which Heather is said to be the cause of.

Heather is a cousin of Marla Maples, a small-time actress who is most widely known by her status as Donald Trump’s second ex-wife.

Heather has African and Lumbee Native American roots on her father’s side, but her ancestry is mostly Scottish.
